About.
FireStarters Media is a 12-week video editing course designed for both middle school and high school students.
Developed by an Alaskan, the vision is simple: to raise the next generation of
Alaskans who will influence the media and culture of our state.

The first course we are offering is "The Beginner’s Guide to Video Editing." In this course, students will learn how to use Adobe Premiere Pro to create their own videos from start to finish.

Students will receive a physical, printed course book along with a custom FireStarters Media flash drive containing all of their pre-loaded assets. These assets include video clips, audio files, and sound effects (SFX). We believe hands-on experience is crucial to learning, and this course is designed to be highly practical. All that is required is a subscription to Adobe Premiere Pro and access to a laptop or desktop computer.
One of the key benefits of this course is the opportunity for students to meet
weekly together, either in person or via Zoom, for a one-hour session. During these sessions, we will walk through each lesson together, allowing for face-to-face instruction and real-time questions. Each lesson includes an assignment, key terms to memorize, and guided questions to answer, providing meaningful work for students to engage with throughout the week.

FireStarters Media is a great opportunity for parents to give their students a creative outlet while also helping them build community with other like-minded students.
